The blue lake

The Blue Lake is located in the municipality of Vettelschoss in northern Rhineland-Palatinate . The approximately one hectare lake emerged from the basalt quarry “Geißen Hohn”, which was closed in 1974 and filled with groundwater and spring water. The maximum depth of the nature standing water is 20 m. It has been used as a fishing and bathing water since 1968 and is a popular travel destination with its relatively clear water.

The lake is only accessible from a narrow bank area , while most of the bank is surrounded by forest and drops steeply into the water. Nevertheless, it is well developed in terms of bathing technology with sanitary facilities and a restaurant; There is a campsite to the north and east of the lake .
