The Blue Lake is a high mountain lake in the extreme southeast of the municipality of the city of Dornbirn in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . It is located in the Blauseeli parcel as a subalpine rock pool lake at the foot of the Portlahorn at an altitude of about 1924 m above sea level. A. Below the lake is the Sünser Alpe . The area of the lake changes depending on the rainfall and measures an average of around 800 m². The lake is only 15 meters west of the municipality boundary to Damüls , which partly leads over the bounding mountain range.
The biotope complex (see biotope inventory Vorarlberg ) in the area of Alpe Sünser (biotope 30153) with over 25 hectares consists of numerous scattered wetlands and has the headwaters of the Mellenbach large of protection. These “spring meadows and spring moors in the area of the Sünser Alpe” (biotope 30153) are related to the Damüls biotope “wet biotopes north of the Alpe Portla” (20920) .
