Color mill in Jugel

The Jugel paint mill was an early modern facility for processing cobalt ore in the lower district of Jugel near Johanngeorgenstadt in the Ore Mountains , which was established in the 2nd half of the 17th century.

The paint mill was operated by the water power of the Jugelbach . It was run by Johann Gabriel Löbels , a grandson of Preissler , for the production of cobalt blue in Unterjugel. This included six houses for the color boys. It was purchased on October 11, 1668 in the possession of the Saxon Elector Johann Georg II. In 1677 it was merged with the Oberschlema blue paint factory . The later Gasthaus Farbmühle emerged from the former manor house, the building of which still exists on Jugelstrasse today.
