Johann Gabriel Löbel (born January 23, 1635 in Jugel , † October 27, 1696 in Grünhain ) was a glassworks owner and hammer owner in the Ore Mountains .

Life

Johann Gabriel was the son of the glassworks owner Christoph Löbel and his wife Anna Preußler . He grew up in Oberjugel and took over after the death of his father's glass factory, while his youngest brother Abraham Löwel the Weitersglashütte inherited. In addition, he built a paint mill and in 1665 a grinding mill in Unterjugel. Löbel sold both mills and the old Bohemian paint mill on October 11, 1668 to Elector Johann Georg II of Saxony, who appointed him a factor in the Jugel blue paint factory . A little later, Löbel left the Oberjugel glassworks to the Klemm mountain ridge. Through the marriage of a hammer master's daughter and through purchase, Löbel came into possession of shares in the hammer works Wittigsthal and Breitenbach and became the new hammer master at both plants. In 1693 Löbel sold both hammer mills to several dealers from Oberwiesenthal .

In 1671 Löbel donated a silver-plated and a gold-plated chalice to the parish in Johanngeorgenstadt . He died on a trip to Grünhain and was buried on October 28, 1696 in the old town church of Johanngeorgenstadt . Before that, his wife Maria Magdelana, born on November 19, 1695, was there.
