Blaze Busters is an American short film from 1950 that was both directed and produced by Robert Youngson .

Fire

The film consists of reports from newsreels about various fires. The film captured spectacular shots of outbreaks of fire, including those on the ships of Morro Castle and Normandy . The Morro Castle was a luxury cruise ship on which a fire broke out on the return of the ship from Havana to New York in 1934, the ship was completely destroyed and 137 people lost their lives. The fire that broke out during welding work on Normandy, a French passenger ship, in 1942 cost a human life. The footage focuses on fire fighting and the difficulty of getting a fire under control.

The film, which is made up of old newsreel recordings, is therefore in black and white. It was first performed on December 30, 1950.

Awards

Robert Youngson was in 1951 for the Oscar in the category Best Short Film (1 roll of film) nominated, but had a disadvantage compared to Grandad of Races by Gordon Hollingshead .
