Gordon Hollingshead

Gordon Hollingshead (born January 8, 1892 in Garfield , New Jersey , † July 8, 1952 in Balboa , California ) was an American film producer and assistant director .

Life

Hollingshead began his film career in 1916 as an assistant director in the silent film era . In 1934 he received his first Oscar for best assistant director of the year. Then he began to work as a film producer. Until his death he had produced a total of 174 films, mostly short films . His last three short films were published posthumously in 1953 . He was nominated for an Oscar 16 times and received the award six times. Hollingshead is remembered by a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame , 6200 Hollywood Boulevard .

Hollingshead was the stepfather of Norwegian actresses Tula Belle and Ebba Mona .
