Three young women want to serve in the US Army Women's Army Corps and arrive at Fort Des Moines. The war widow Mary Sawyer wants to become an officer. Anastasia Hart, who lived on a farm, is interested in the transport service. Lorna Travis wants to win the recognition of her father, the chauvinist Major General Travis.
After intensive training under the leadership of Major General Travis, the three women can contribute to the US war effort and affirm the value of the Women's Army Corps .
