Teddy the Rough Rider is an American short film from 1940.
action
The film describes the political career of Theodore Roosevelt , beginning with his office as police chief of New York, which he took up in 1895. In 1897 he became Deputy Secretary of the Navy under President William McKinley .
When the Spanish-American War broke out in 1898, Roosevelt resigned his ministerial office and led a cavalry unit known as the Rough Riders . The film pays special attention to the Battle of San Juan Hill on July 1, 1898. The battle, which was won by the Americans, established Roosevelt's reputation as a war hero.
In 1900 Roosevelt became Vice President of the United States. When William McKinley succumbed on September 14, 1901 from injuries inflicted on him in an assassination attempt, he took over the presidency.
