Selmer Jackson
Selmer Adolph Jackson (born May 7, 1888 in Lake Mills , Iowa , † March 30, 1971 in Burbank , Los Angeles County , California ) was an American actor who appeared in nearly 400 films between 1921 and 1963.
Life
Jackson began his film career in The Supreme Passion in 1921 . From 1929 he starred in several films every year, including 1931 in Frank Capra's Das Luftschiff , Michael Curtiz ' The mysterious Dr. X and the Marx Brothers comedy scandal in the opera . He appeared in several films from the Charlie Chan series and starred in the 1944 Laurel and Hardy comedy The Big Bang . In the 1950s he was seen in the monumental film The Gladiators, among other things . In addition, he has now also appeared in television series , under he had the recurring guest role of Mayor Hoover in the western series Wyatt Earp intervenes . He had a major supporting role in 1959 in the science fiction B-movie On U-17 all hell is going on . Between 1956 and 1960 he played the role of Chester W. Nimitz in two films and the television series Navy Log . In 1963 he retired from show business.
Jackson died of a heart attack in 1971 .
