The Blechnum Peaks comprise three mountain peaks ( 640 m , 615 m and 550 m high) on the north coast of South Georgia . They rise up in the middle of the north-south oriented ridge between Gulbrandsen Lake and the Olsen Valley .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1991 in the course of the biological work of the British Antarctic Survey in this area after the rare rib fern Blechnum penna-marina (trivial Tierra del Fuego fern or sea feather rib fern ), which occurs in South Georgia on the north and east slopes these three peaks and is limited to the adjacent Olsen Valley.
