The Gulbrandsen Lake was an 800 m long glacial edge lake north of the Neumayer Glacier on South Georgia . It was in the Gulbrandsen Valley .
Participants in the British Quest Expedition (1921–1922) mapped it and gave it the name White City . However, this did not prevail. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him in 1957 after Gunnar Gulbrandsen, carpenter of the Compañía Argentina de Pesca in Grytviken from 1927 to 1930, carpenter in Stromness between 1945 and 1946 and from 1946 for several years in various functions for the whaling station located in Leith Harbor active.
As a result of the retreat of the Neumayer Glacier, the lake drained into Cumberland West Bay and has dried up since 2010.
