Gulbrandsen Valley

The Gulbrandsen Valley is a valley on South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It lies west of the Blechnum Peaks on the north bank of the head end of Cumberland West Bay .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2013 based on the name given to Gulbrandsen Lake, which has dried up since 2010 . Its namesake is Gunnar Gulbrandsen, carpenter of the Compañía Argentina de Pesca in Grytviken from 1927 to 1930, carpenter in Stromness between 1945 and 1946 and from 1946 for several years in various positions for the whaling station located in Leith Harbor .
