Olsen Valley

The Olsen Valley is a valley in northern South Georgia in the South Atlantic . It stretches from Husvik Harbor in Stromness Bay to Carlita Bay , a side bay of Cumberland West Bay .

The valley was already known to the first whale and seal hunters in South Georgia. The South Georgia Survey took surveys between 1951 and 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1958 after Nils Erling Olsen (1910-1975), from 1950 to 1956 manager of the Norwegian whaling company Tønsbergs Hvalfangeri .
