Bledius denticollis is a beetle from the family of the short-winged species (Staphylinidae).

features

The beetles reach a body length of 4 to 4.2 millimeters. The posterior angle of the pronotum is small and rectangular, with the side in front being visibly flared. The pronotum is matt and shagreened and has a very fine, somewhat recessed center line along it. It is finely and irregularly structured in dots. The wings are as long as together wide. They are yellow-red in color and usually have a dark square discoid spot. They are rarely colored completely black. The legs are colored red and yellow.

Occurrence and way of life

The species occurs in Northern and Central Europe. It populates thinly overgrown sandbanks on river and lake banks with loamy or clayey deposits. Often the species occurs in company with other species of the genus Bledius .
