The lead voltaes (Norwegian for pale hills ) are rocky outcrops in Queen Maud's East Antarctic land . They rise 11 km south of the Balchenfjella in the south-eastern part of the Sør Rondane mountains .
Norwegian cartographers, who gave this mountain group its descriptive name, mapped it in 1957 using aerial photographs taken during the US operation Highjump (1946–1947).
