Sør Rondane ( Norwegian , analogously for Southern Rondane Mountains ) is a group of mountains of up to 3400 m in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It extends over a length of 160 km between the Queen Fabiola Mountains and the Wohlthat massif .
Participants in the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 discovered the mountains and photographed them from the air on February 6, 1937. Christensen named it after the Rondane mountains in Norway . Norwegian cartographers made a more detailed mapping in 1957 using aerial photographs taken during the US Operation Highjump (1946–1947).
