In the tribe Blenniini the least specialized genera of the slimy fish (Blenniidae) are summarized. They are characterized by an undifferentiated dentition. Premaxillary and dentals have uniform incisors . The fish become five to eight inches long.
Occurrence
Four species live close to the coast in the eastern Atlantic , including the sea butterfly on the coasts of Europe and in the western Mediterranean .
Systematics
Today only five species in two genera are counted among the Blenniini. Most of the species that used to belong to the Blenniini family now belong to the comb-toothed mucus fish .
