Bliss n Eso is an Australian hip-hop - band from Sydney .
Band history
The band was originally founded in 2000 under the name Bliss n Esoterikizm , which turned out to be too long and complicated and was therefore shortened. The band consists of the rappers Jonathan Notley, who originally comes from the USA, and Max MacKinnen and the DJ Tarik Ejjamai. They knew each other from high school before starting Bliss n Eso. They first released an EP and a mixtape on their own before signing with Obese Records in 2004 . Their debut album Flowers in the Pavement from the same year was produced with the support of members of the Hilltop Hoods , the most successful Australian hip-hop band. Nevertheless, the first LP was not yet a great success and so they changed labels before their second album was released.
Day of the Dog was released in 2006 and brought the trio a first place in the Australian album charts. Their first single success followed a year later: With the African Zulu Connections Choir, who was on tour in Australia, they recorded the song Bullet and a Target as a benefit single for the development aid project of the Australian Oaktree Foundation . In 2008 the third album by Bliss n Eso with the title Flying Colors followed , with which they finally established themselves in the Australian hip-hop scene. For this LP they also received an ARIA Award for the best urban album of the year. This also had an impact on her next album, Running on Air , which entered the charts at number one in 2010 .
It took three years for her next album to be released, but it was also released in the USA. While it was the second number one album in a row in their homeland , Bliss n Eso achieved a respectable success with Circus in the Sky with a position in the R&B charts in the United States.
