World Women's Squash Championship 2005

The 21st Women's Squash World Championship took place from November 29th to December 4th, 2005 in Hong Kong . The World Championship was the most highly endowed tournament of the WSA World Tour 2005/06 season .

The defending champion was Vanessa Atkinson , who reached the semi-finals that year. She was eliminated against Nicol David , who defeated Rachael Grinham in the final with 8:10, 9: 2, 9: 6 and 9: 7. It was the first world title for Nicol David and at the same time the first for an Asian squash player.

The field of participants consisted of 32 players, ten of which were starting places for qualifiers. A wildcard was not awarded.

Prize money and world ranking points

In the tournament, the following world ranking points were credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 72,500.
