Omneya Abdel Kawy ( Arabic أمنية عبد القوي, DMG Umniyya ʿAbd al-Qawī ; * August 15, 1985 in Cairo ) is a former Egyptian squash player .

Career

Omneya Abdel Kawy won in her junior career in 2003 in her hometown of Cairo, the World Youth Championship after 2001 even in the final to Nicol David failed. From 1999 to 2018 she was active as a professional player on the PSA World Tour and won eight titles. In 2010 she was the first African woman ever to reach the final of the World Cup, but lost again to Nicol David. She became world champion with the Egyptian national team in 2008 , 2012 and 2016 , after having already been runner-up with them in 2006 . She achieved her best position in the world rankings in October 2010 with fourth place. At the 2003 African Games , Omneya Abdel Kawy won the gold medal in both individual and team competitions. She won bronze medals at the World Games in 2005 and 2009. She ended her career in November 2018.
