Women's Squash World Team Championship 2008

The 16th World Team Chess Championship women ( English 2008 Women's World Team Squash Championship ) was held from November 30 to December 6, 2008 in Cairo , Egypt , instead. A total of 19 teams took part, the People's Republic of China made its debut at a World Cup.

World champion was Egypt for the first time , who defeated England 2-1 in the final. Omneya Abdel Kawy gave the Egyptian team a 3-0 lead against Jenny Duncalf before Laura Lengthorn-Massaro equalized with a 3-2 win over Raneem El Weleily . Engy Kheirallah secured the title with a 3-2 win over Alison Waters . Third place was like Malaysia two years earlier , who beat New Zealand in the game for third place .

Germany took 13th place, Switzerland came 17th ahead of Austria , which finished the tournament in 18th place.

mode

The participating teams were drawn into four groups according to their placement. The group size varied between four and five teams per group. The groups played in round robin mode , and the two best-placed teams reached the final round, which was played in a knockout system . At the tournament all places were played out.

All teams consisted of a minimum of three and a maximum of four players who had to be reported in the order of their skill level. Three individual games were played per encounter. A team won if its players could win two of the individual games. The order of play of the individual games is independent of the order in which the players register.
