from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 21st World Team Chess Championship women in squash ( English 2018 Women's World Team Squash Championship ) was held from 11 to 16 September 2018 in Dalian in the People's Republic of China instead. The tournament was organized by the Chinese Squash Federation and the World Squash Federation . It was the first world championship in squash that was held in China.

The defending champion was the Egyptian national team , which again secured the title. As in 2016 , the team met England in the final . Compared to 2016, the English women competed with the same players in a slightly different order, the Egyptians now had Nour El Tayeb in their squad instead of Omneya Abdel Kawy . The first game in the final was played by Nouran Gohar and Alison Waters , which Gohar won in 11: 9, 11: 9, 6:11, 7:11 and 11: 7. Since Raneem El Weleily following Laura Massaro with 11: 3, 11: 8, 9:11 and 11: 3 defeated, Egypt was already ahead of world champion. The game between El Tayeb and Sarah-Jane Perry was no longer played. The Egyptian squad also included the world number leader Nour El Sherbini , who did not make it to the final due to injury. With the English women Victoria Lust had not played in the final.

The national teams of Switzerland and Germany competed in the World Cup from German-speaking countries . Both missed qualifying for the quarter-finals as bottom of the group. In the consolation round, both teams then won, so that they met in the game for 13th place. The Swiss prevailed in the first two games with 3: 1 each, the third game was no longer played. In Switzerland the squad consisted of Cindy Merlo , Nadia Pfister , Gaby Huber and Celine Walser , in the German team of Franziska Hennes , Nele Hatschek , Saskia Beinhard and Annika Wiese .
