2014 Women's Squash World Team Championship

The 19th World Team Chess Championship women ( English 2014 Women's World Team Squash Championship ) was held from 1 to 6 December 2014 in Niagara-on-the-Lake , Canada , instead. The tournament was organized by the Canadian Squash Federation and the World Squash Federation . A total of 20 teams competed.

Defending champion was Egypt , which finished third this year. The English team won their first title since 2006 and their seventh title overall. In the final she defeated Malaysia, which had reached a final for the first time. Sarah-Jane Perry gave England the lead against Delia Arnold before Nicol David equalized against Laura Massaro . The decision brought Alison Waters with a 3-1 win over Low Wee Wern . The German team took 15th place in the line-up of Sina Wall , Franziska Hennes , Annika Wiese and Nicole Fries . Austria achieved 19th place with Birgit Coufal , Jacqueline Peychär , Anja and Lisa Kaserer .

mode

The participating teams were drawn according to their placement in four groups of five teams. Within the groups, the game is played in round robin mode ; the two best-placed teams reached the final round, which is played in the knockout system . In the tournament all places will be played out.

All teams consist of a minimum of three and a maximum of four players who had to be entered in the order of their skill level. Three individual games are played per match. A team has won if its players win two of the individual games. The order of play of the individual games is independent of the order in which the players register.
