Joshna Chinappa (also Joshana Chinappa ; born September 15, 1986 in Chennai ) is an Indian squash player .
Career
Chinappa began her career in 2003 and has won eleven titles on the WSA and PSA World Tour so far . It reached its highest place in the world rankings in July 2016 with rank ten. In 2005 she was in the final of the Junior World Championship , which she lost to Raneem El Weleily in three sets. With the Indian national team, Chinappa took part in world championships in 2002 , 2010 , 2012 , 2014 and 2016 . In the individual, she was in the first round of the main field in 2009 and 2013 . With the national team she won the bronze medal at the Asian Games in 2010 and was Asian champion in 2012 . In 2014 , the team won the silver medal at the Asian Games . In 2017 she became the Asian champion in singles for the first time and also defended the title in 2019. Between 2001 and 2020 she won the title at the Indian national championship a total of 18 times.
In 2014 she won the gold medal in women's doubles at the Commonwealth Games with Dipika Pallikal . It was the first medal in squash in Indian history. At the Commonwealth Games 2018 she reached the final of the doubles competition with Pallikal again , in which they were defeated by Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy . In mixed she and Harinder Pal Sandhu were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Joshna Chinappa received the Arjuna Award in 2013 .
