Dipika Rebecca Pallikal Karthik (born September 21, 1991 in Chennai ) is an Indian squash player .

Career

She began her career in 2006 on the PSA World Tour and was only the second Indian squash player to make it into the top 100 women's world rankings. This was also followed by the appointment to the national team. Her best place in the world rankings to date was tenth in December 2012. In Calcutta , she won her first title on the professional tour against Emma Beddoes . Since then she has won a total of eleven titles on the World Tour. In 2012 she was awarded the Arjuna Award . She had previously won the Asian Cup with the Indian national team . In 2010 she and the team won the bronze medal at the Asian Games . In 2014 she received the Padma Shri . In 2011 and 2016 she became Indian champion.

In 2014 she won the gold medal in women's doubles at the Commonwealth Games with Joshna Chinappa . It was the first medal in squash in Indian history. In 2014 she won two more medals at the Asian Games : bronze in singles and silver with the team . In 2017 she became vice-Asian champion in singles. At the Commonwealth Games 2018 she reached the final of the doubles competition with Joshna Chinappa again , in which she was defeated by Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy . She won another silver medal at the side of Saurav Ghosal in mixed , with whom she was runner-up in this discipline in 2016 .

On August 18, 2015, she married the Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik.
