Women's Squash World Team Championship 1985

The fourth women's World Team Championship ( English 1985 Women's World Team Squash Championships ) was held from 2 to 7 September 1985 in Dublin , Ireland , instead. A total of 14 teams took part, Finland and Hong Kong made their debut.

England won their first world title as a separate nation after beating New Zealand 2-1 in the final . For New Zealand it was the first final in their third participation. Defending champion Australia secured third place against hosts Ireland. Germany finished the tournament in 13th place.

mode

The participating teams were drawn into four groups according to their results from the last competition for the preliminary round. The two best-placed teams moved into the main round, which consisted of two groups. Round-robin mode was used within the groups . The two best-placed teams in the two main round groups advanced to the semi-finals.

All teams consisted of a minimum of three and a maximum of four players who had to be reported in the order of their skill level. Three individual games were played per encounter. A team won if its players could win two of the individual games. The order in which the individual games were played was independent of the order in which the players entered.
