Lisa Opie , MBE (born August 15, 1963 in Guernsey ) is a former English squash player .

Career

Lisa Opie started her career in 1984. In March 1988 she topped the world rankings for two months. Already in her junior career she became world champion when she lost to Martine Le Moignan 9: 4, 9: 6 and 10: 8 in Ottawa in 1981 . In the active area, she could not repeat this success, even if she could reach the finals of world championships twice. In 1985 she lost to Susan Devoy 4: 9, 5: 9 and 8:10. Two years later she faced Susan Devoy again and suffered another defeat with 3: 9, 8:10 and 2: 9.

At the British Open she reached the final five times. In 1982 and 1983 she was defeated by Vicki Cardwell , in 1984 and 1986 again by Susan Devoy. In 1991 she was able to win her first and only title at the British Open against Sue Wright . She won the final 6: 9, 9: 3, 9: 3 and 9: 4. In 1981, 1986 and 1987 she was British national champion. With the English national team she won four titles at European Championships .

In 1995 she ended her career. In the same year she became a member of the Order of the British Empire .
