Blood Red Angel was a German thrash metal band from Krefeld that was founded in January 1999.

history

Blood Red Angel was founded in 1999 around the former vernissage musicians Klaus Spangenberg, Bernd Groß, Jens Pesch and Robert Balner. In the same year, drummer Philip Schmidt got on board. Together with him, the band released an untitled demo with five songs, which eventually brought the band a record deal with Gutter Records. Shortly thereafter, however, Adran Ricci replaced Schmidt on drums. This was followed by the debut album The Language of Hate and a mini tour. The State of Insanity album followed in 2001 . Robert Balner and Adriano Ricci left the same year. While Jens Sonntag started directly as a guitarist, no replacement was found for the drums at first. In 2002 the band toured several times through Germany, but also in Belgium and the Netherlands. Martin Below ( Aardvarks ) and Andre Schwalbe helped out on drums .

In 2003 Blood Red Angel found a new drummer in Andreas Danner and signed with Supreme Chaos Records. In 2004 the third album Crime Entertainment was released . After that, the band lost their deal and released a promo a year later, which was also available for download.

In 2008 the last album Abyssland was released through the Twilight distribution . In 2010 the band broke up.

style

Blood Red Angel jokingly refer to their style as "Rhine-Area Thrash" based on the Bay Area Thrash from San Francisco . The main influences come from bands like Testament , Grip Inc. , Kreator , Overkill , Forbidden , Slayer and Exodus . But completely different influences are also integrated.
