Bloodpit is a rock group from Tampere , Finland, founded in 1994 .

history

Matthau Mikojan and Paavo Pekkonen were twelve years old when they formed their band in 1994 under the name RIP . They recorded their first songs at home. In 1995 the first concert took place in a bar under the new band name Turmio .

In 1998 the band was named Bloodpit . Janne Kolehmainen joined the band as a bass player. For concerts they were supported by drummer Mato Romppanen, until in 1999 Arnold T. Kumputie was accepted as a permanent drummer.

In May 2000 the first Demo Promo EP was ready. Matthaus older brother Christ joined the band and replaced Janne as bassist. The next demo No 2 was produced in 2001. First appearances at festivals like the Satamarock in Toijala followed. In 2002, Christ left the band in the direction of Negative and was replaced by Paspartou Hagen. In the same year, Hagen and Kumputie left the band and were replaced by Aleksi Keränen and Alarik Valamo.

In 2003 Bloodpit released the EP You Name It . A record deal with Grotesque Records failed because the label ceased operations shortly thereafter. Therefore, Platitude was published in 2004 on its own.

In 2005 the band finally got a contract with the Beemvees / Playground label . She recorded her debut album Mental Circus , which was released on August 24, 2005 - announced by several singles - in Finland. Bloodpit played numerous concerts, for the first time in Russia and Italy .

The Finnish youth magazine Suosikki and the radio station Ylex named Bloodpit 2006 “Newcomer of the Year 2005”. The EP Sauna päälle! was published in Finland. On November 3rd, 2006 Mental Circus finally appeared in Austria and Germany , followed by a partially sold out tour through Italy and Germany.

In the late summer of 2007 the band canceled all the dates of the tour planned for the following November and announced on their website that they were going "on a break of indefinite duration". During this break, the singer Matthau left the band, which continued without him and with an expanded line-up in the summer of 2008. Matthau was replaced by the 23-year-old Antti Ravín on the microphone; From then on Petri Hiltunen was responsible for the second guitar. In 2008 Bloodpit released the EP Recovered, their first work with the new line-up.
