Blue Flyer , until 2010 Zipper Dipper , at Blackpool Pleasure Beach ( Blackpool , Lancashire , UK ) is a wooden roller coaster that opened in 1934 under the name Zipper Dipper .

The 335 m long run is considered a family roller coaster and has been included in the ACE Coaster Classics category for American roller coaster enthusiasts. It was the first attraction in the Childrens' Park , which was later expanded into the Beaver Creek Theme Park Children's Area. With the redesign of the area to Nickelodeon Land for the 2011 season, the track was renamed and redesigned. A new station building was erected and the formerly white wooden structure was painted blue.

It's not entirely clear who the rink's designer was, very likely Charles Paige, who also designed the neighboring wooden rollercoaster, the Rollercoaster (now the Nickelodeon Streak ), which opened a year earlier. At that time, however, Harry G. Traver was also working in Blackpool, which is why he is also a suitable designer.

The route is a simple out-and-back layout with a few hills, which is driven through at a maximum of 40 km / h after the chain lift hill, which is only six meters high .

Trains

Blue Flyer owns a Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters train with five cars. Four people (two rows of two people) can be seated in each car.

Blue Flyer originally owned a three-car train, also from Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters. Each car had four rows of seats.
