The Big Dipper at Blackpool Pleasure Beach ( Blackpool , Lancashire , UK ) is a wooden roller coaster designed by William Strickler that opened in July 1923. It was originally designed by John A. Miller . Charlie Paige and Joe Emberton added two more runs and an arch over the south entrance to the park in 1936.
In August 1998, Richard Rodriguez set a record on Big Dipper when he drove it over 1000 hours. In June 2000, he broke that record by spending 2000 hours on Big Dipper.
Trains
The Big Dipper owns two trains made by Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters , each with three cars. Six people (three rows of two people) can be seated in each car. The passengers must be at least 1.17 m tall to be allowed to ride.
