Blue Tears was an American glam metal band from Jackson, Tennessee , which enjoyed brief success in the late eighties. The band fell into oblivion due to the grunge and alternative metal wave and the members worked on other projects. However, the band re-formed in 2005 and released a new album. The lead singer Gregg Fulkerson died on April 14th, 2009, which is why the band has finally broken up.

history

Front man Gregg Fulkerson founded the band "Sahara" with a few friends in 1983 at the age of 17. The band first played covers at small concerts in their hometown, but they quickly began to play their own songs and give concerts with around 1,000 people.

The band recorded several demos in Fulkerson's bedroom, and the radio played them constantly. One of these demos reached a Los Angeles- based record company : MCA Records . Soon after, they signed the record deal. Two months before the band released their debut album, they changed their name to Blue Tears.

The debut album was released in June 1990 with the lead single "Rockin 'With the Radio", which got a music video. The second single "Innocent Kiss" also received a very large promotion. The album was originally called "Thunder of the Night" and was also advertised under this name, but the album was named after the band when it was released. Unfortunately, the band was just another Glam Metal work on a disappearing scene.

The band re-entered the studio in 1991 and released new songs for a new album. New tracks included: "Long Way Home", "Kisses In The Dark", "With You Tonight", "Follow Your Heart" and "Summer Girl". However, due to the popularity of the grunge on MTV, MCA decided not to release the album. However, the unreleased songs were released on a Fulkerson solo album 15 years later .

The band members took part in other projects. Above all, Fulkerson and Spears worked with Stryper frontman Michael Sweet on his solo album of the same name . Jay Price recorded albums with the likes of Dave Koz and Hootie and the Blowfish .

In 2002, Fulkerson and Spears worked together on another project called Attraction 65 . At the time, Blue Tears was something of a cult. Fulkerson decided to do two compilations of never-released Blue Tears songs, one called "Mad, Bad and Dangerous" and the other "Dancin 'On the Backstreets". Both were released by Sun City Records .

However, Blue Tears (only with Fulkerson as an original member) released a new album in 2006 called The Innocent Ones .

In 2009, the news appeared on the MySpace page of Country singer Jessica Miller that Fulkerson is, at the age of 44 years, died on the morning of 14 April. He was the last original member of the band and the person who kept them together. With his death, the band broke up too.
