Blue Thunder is an interactive film and rail shooter released in 1987 .
Gameplay
The player takes on the role of a recruit The Player for the 15 million US dollar fictional helicopter Blue Thunder . He finds himself in a debriefing about the meeting of the World Peace Coalition in Los Angeles in two days . The airspace should be monitored and, if necessary, close air support should be requested in order to avoid possible disruptions. At the end of the game the highscore table is displayed.
Day 1: Special training and tactics
On the first day, The Player is brought to the same practice area where his skills were shown in the film Blue Thunder. He has to turn off red figures and black cars (" terrorists ") using the on-board weapon and spare the innocent (white figures).
Day 2: World Peace Coalition Los Angeles
On the day of the actual meeting, the worst forecast event occurs. Enemy vehicles must be moved out of the way. It is important to ensure that the innocent are protected here too. The group leader's helicopter is hit, leaving only an LAPD helicopter to accompany him . Then enemy jets must be brought down from the sky. Then the game is over. The group leader congratulates on the success and then you fly into the sunset .
reception
A further evaluation of the game probably did not take place.
Remarks
Blue Thunder is the game for the 1983 film The Flying Eye . This came out in the English-speaking countries under the title Blue Thunder and is also the name of the helicopter. The pilot is not played by actor Roy Scheider , as in the film , but by John Stuart West . Many scenes from the film are reused.
