Bluetooth profiles
Bluetooth profiles are interface specifications of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group for wireless communication in a Bluetooth environment. In order for a device to be able to use offered Bluetooth services or offer them itself, it must be compatible with various profiles . A Bluetooth profile is always based on the general Bluetooth specification and optionally also on further protocols or specifications.
Which Bluetooth functionalities a device can use depends on the number of implemented profiles. The Bluetooth profiles define a standard that manufacturers follow in order to establish simple communication between a wide variety of devices.
The following table lists some profiles that are implemented for Bluetooth. New profiles are constantly being added, so the standardization for Bluetooth can react flexibly to new device requirements. The GATT profile was specified for the new protocol architecture Bluetooth V4.0 Low Energy .
