Bloody Christmas (1945)

The Bloody Christmas ( Bulgarian Кървавата Коледа or "Кървавият Божик") was a campaign of political repression against Bulgarian collaborators and members of the Inner Macedonian Revolutionary Organization in January 1945, which was part of the political terror in the Socialist Republic of Macedonia . In this become the Bulgarentum murdered or professing people without trial or court ruling mistreated. According to an order from Tito , around 1200 Bulgarians were murdered. The aim was to shake the Bulgarians' self-confidence and to accelerate the process of Macedonization. According to Vesselin Angelov, around 23,000 Bulgarians were killed in the area around the city of Ohrid and the Prespa region during the repression of 1945 , and an estimated 130,000 Bulgarians were expelled, persecuted or sent to concentration camps in Yugoslavia .

The number of those murdered was 63 in Skopje , 54 in Veles , 48 in Kumanovo , 36 in Bitola , 77 in Štip , 35 in Prilep and 330 around the village of Vladimirovo. Near Lake Ohrid and the Prespa were also killed many Bulgarians and their bodies subsequently disposed of in Lake Prespa. In Veles they were behind the church “St. Fun ”buried.
