Boćki ( Lithuanian Bočkai ) is a village and seat of the rural municipality of the same name in northeastern Poland in the Podlaskie Voivodeship .

history

Boćki has been known in documents since 1502. As early as 1509 it received its town charter as property of the noble family of Sapieha. In 1568 the first Jews from Western Europe came to the city. During the First World War, the Eastern Front ran through Boćki, which severely destroyed the city. In 1934 Boćki lost its town charter after 425 years due to low population numbers.

The village that gives it its name and another 32 school offices with around 4400 inhabitants belong to the rural community of Boćki.
