Boaz (biblical person)

Boaz ( Hebrew בּוֹעַז, “In him there is power / the potent”) is a Judean landowner from Bethlehem in the Book of Ruth in the Old Testament .

He is portrayed as a kind man who cares about the well-being of his workers and family members. Therefore, he also takes Ruth, the widow of a distant relative, according to the Leviratgesetz as a solver for a wife. Her son is Obed , the father of Isai and grandfather of David , Boaz the great-grandfather of King David. According to Mt 1.5  SLT , Boaz is a son of Salma or Salmon and Rahab .
