The daughter of the title hero Hakushon, the gleeful Akubi, became the studio's mascot. In 2001 she got her own series, Yobarete Tobidete! Akubi-chan .

action

Kan-chan is a real unlucky fellow. He is bad at school, has no luck with the girls and his parents think he is a disaster.

There he finds a magic bottle in which the Djinn Hakushon lives. The good-natured Hakushon, who is conjured up with a sneeze, fulfills Kan's every wish, no matter how crazy he is. But there is also Hakushon's daughter, Akubi, who is summoned by a yawn. Their favorite hobby is to sabotage Kan's wishes.

Production and publication

The 25-episode series was produced by Studio Tatsunoko in 1969 under the direction of Segawa Hiroshi . The producer was Yoshida Kenji , the scripts were written by Yamazaki Haruya , Jinno Tadashi and Itō Kōji . Ninomiya Tsuneo created the character design and Ichikawa Shōsuke composed the music . Each episode of the gag anime is divided into two independent stories of their own. The series was broadcast on Fuji TV in Japan from October 5, 1969 to September 7, 1970 . In addition, both a DVD box set and three single DVDs with six selected episodes each have been released.

In 1991 Saban processed the series for the US market. The names were changed, Hakushon became "Bob", Akubi "Lana" and Kan-chan was now called "Joey". As usual with Saban, the entire music and sound effects were exchanged. The whole thing was then sold to the rest of the world as an American product from 1991. In Germany, the series ran in the mid-1990s as Bob, the genie in a bottle on RTL and Super RTL . The French version of this version was called Robert dans la bouteille . In the Spanish area she is known as Bob Embotallado , but also as Yam Yam y el Genio . The latter version is based on the Japanese version. The series ran in Italy as early as 1983, under the title Il mago pancione Etcì .
