In May 2017, Bob Buckhorn caused a stir and negative reaction from the press after pointing a .50-caliber machine gun at several journalists pretending to shoot them during a military parade in Tampa, after which he said he has never had adult men seen how little girls cry. Shortly afterwards he apologized for this statement. After eight years in office, Bob Buckhorn could no longer run for another term; on May 1, 2019, he was replaced by Jane Castor in the mayor's office. Bob Buckhorn is married and has two daughters.
