Bob Christo (* around 1940 as Robert John Christo ; † March 20, 2011 in Bangalore , Karnataka ) was an Australian actor of Hindi films .

Life

Bob Christo was a civil engineer and had his first contact with the film industry while building film sets. Construction projects brought him to Rhodesia , South Africa and Oman . While waiting for an Omani work permit , he had to leave the country, so he went to Bombay in 1977 . By chance he came into contact with filmmakers again and made his debut in a villain role in Sanjay Khan's Abdullah (1980).

As a white man with a muscular body and a shaved head, he was predestined for negative and violence roles, but also embodied British officers in period films. Besides Tom Alter , who was able to cover a wider range of roles because of his fluent Hindi , and his compatriot Nadia , Christo was the only foreigner who played a considerable number of roles in Indian films.

Bob Christo last appeared in a film in 2003 and then worked as a yoga teacher in Bangalore . He was married and had five children.

Christo died of a heart attack at the age of 72.
