Bob Cortner

Robert Charles "Bob" Cortner (born April 16, 1927 in Redlands , California , † May 19, 1959 in Indianapolis , Indiana ) was an American automobile racing driver .

Career

Bob Cortner had a fatal accident at Indianapolis Motor Speedway just one day after receiving his racing license . During training for the 500-mile race in 1959 , Cortner's car was hit by a gust of wind at Turn 3 and the car hit the boundary at an acute angle.

Jerry Unser had a fatal accident two days earlier during a training run.
