Bob Erlendson

Bob Erlendson (* 1931 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) is a Canadian jazz pianist and composer .

Erlendson took classical piano lessons as a child, then went to United College . This was followed by five years of intensive theory and composition studies with Gordon Delamont ; During these years he discovered his interest in jazz . He taught Lenny Breau and Bernie Senensky and played with Ed Bickert , Tommy Banks , Rob McConnell , Reg Schwager , Moe Koffman and Pat LaBarbera . He directed his own trio and octet line-ups , with which he has released several albums since 1987. He also recorded with Don Thompson and Cheryl Fisher and toured with singers Shirley Eickhard ( Riding Home , Riding on the 65 ) and Georgia Ambrose. After years in Toronto , he has lived in Calgary since 2008 .
