Robert Wayne "Bob" Hutchinson (born May 9, 1955 in Bolton ) is a former English football player .

Career

Hutchinson was active in the 1973/74 season as "Apprentice" (dt. Trainee) with the Blackburn Rovers and then played for Radcliffe Borough in the Cheshire County League , before he was presented in December 1974 at the fourth division AFC Rochdale . By coach Walter Joyce , who put his focus on young players, the 19-year-old striker was called up on Boxing Day 1974 in a home game against the Doncaster Rovers and contributed with a goal to a 2-0 victory. Hutchinson was also in the starting line-up two days later against Bradford City (final score 0: 1). The commitment of Bob Mountford in early 1975 ensured that Hutchinson was limited to assignments in the reserve team until his contract termination in September 1975. He is said to have completed a trial training at Macclesfield Town and possibly played at Stalybridge Celtic .
