Bob McLeod (born August 9, 1951 in Tampa , Florida ) is an American comic artist .

Life and work

McLeod began working as a full-time comic artist in the 1970s after graduating from Auburn University and the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale . He works as a pencil as well as an ink draftsman.

McLeod's graphic work includes drawing activities ("runs") for the series Action Comics, which appeared on DC-Comic in the early 1990s, which is about the adventures of the superhero Superman , and for the series Spider-Man , Star, which appears on Marvel Comics Wars and New Mutants . The latter was even significantly influenced by McLeod, as he was the first draftsman to put the concept designed by author Chris Claremont into pictures. Among the most famous stories that McLeod (co-) visualized include the Spider-Man story Cravens Last Hunt ( "Craven's Last Hunt") and the Superman story crisis around the clinker red kryptonite ( "Crisis of the Crimson Kryptonite").

Artists McLeod has worked with frequently in the past include writers Chris Claremont and Roger Stern, and illustrators Mike Zeke .

In the recent past McLeod has written and drawn a children's book called Superhero ABC and illustrated several editions of the The Phantom series for the Swedish publisher Egmont.
