Robert Patrick "Bob" McVey (born March 14, 1936 in Hartford , Connecticut ) is a retired American ice hockey player . At the 1960 Winter Olympics , he won the gold medal as a member of the US national team.
Career
Bob McVey began his career as a hockey player at Harvard University , which he attended from 1956 to 1958 and for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . He then spent two years with Team USA preparing for the Olympic Games before ending his career at the age of 24. He eventually returned to his home in Connecticut, where he started an insurance company.
International
For the United States , McVey took part in the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , where he and his team won the gold medal. He was also in his country's squad for the 1959 World Cup .
