Bob Stenhouse

Robert "Bob" Stenhouse (born November 3, 1944 in Dunedin ) is a New Zealand animator .

Life

Stenhouse attended the University of Canterbury's Ilam School of Fine Arts and began working as a graphic artist and animator for the regional television station WNTV-1 after graduating in 1968. His work over the next twelve years included title sequences and advertising graphics. From 1980 Stenhouse worked as a graphic designer and animator at the New Zealand National Film Unit in Wellington . In 1986 he released his short film The Frog, the Dog, and the Devil , which was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Animated Short the following year . It was the first New Zealand animated film to be nominated for an Oscar. The National Film Unit was dissolved in 1989; Since then, Stenhouse has been working as a freelance animator, among others in cooperation with New Zealand on Air.

Bob Stenhouse's son, Peter Stenhouse (1981-2011), also worked as an animator.
