history

The company was founded in 1890 by Joseph Bobst as a printing supplies store in Lausanne. In 1915, Bobst manufactured its first own systems. With the opening of the production facility in Prilly, near Lausanne, Bobst began production on an industrial scale in 1938.

In 1978 the company, which had been trading as J. Bobst & Fils SA since 1918, was converted into a stock corporation and listed on the stock exchange . As a result, Bobst expanded its business activities, including with various acquisitions, on an international level and in 1989 achieved sales over one billion francs for the first time.

The international expansion continued from 1997 through the opening of further locations abroad and through various takeovers. The last company takeover, the purchase of the German machine manufacturer Fischer & Krecke , was completed at the end of March 2008.
