Bernhard von Waldeck

Bernhard von Waldeck (* 1561 in Landau ; † March 11, 1591 in Iburg ) was Bishop of Osnabrück from 1585 to 1591 .

Life

Bernhard von Waldeck was the son of Count Johann I von Waldeck-Landau and his wife Anna zur Lippe as the fifth of six children. So he belonged to the Waldeck family .

Waldeck became bishop of Osnabrück in 1585. The assignment of Bernhard von Waldeck to the Catholic or Protestant denomination is made differently. On the part of the Diocese of Osnabrück he is now run as a Protestant bishop. However, on January 29, 1586 he took the oath on the Tridentinum .

Waldeck was a nephew of the former Bishop Franz von Waldeck .
