The Bockstallsee is a reservoir in the Ammergau Alps .

location

The Bockstallsee is about 1120  m above sea level. NHN Höhe, in the Bavarian part of the Ammergau Alps in the area of the Ostallgäu district . Immediately south of the lake are the alpine meadows of the Wankerfleck . Otherwise the lake is surrounded by dense forests. The striking Geiselstein rises directly above the lake . Due to its isolated location in the Ammergau Alps nature reserve , the lake can only be reached via forest roads that are closed to general vehicle traffic.

Surname

The lake is listed without a name in the official topographic map of the Bavarian State Office for Surveying and Geoinformation. However, in other maps and on the website of the responsible community in photography , the lake is referred to as Bockstallsee .

history

To protect against flooding, various reservoirs and barriers were planned in the 1960s on the upper reaches of the Halch . The Bockstallsee owes its creation to these construction measures.
