The post mill Fermersleben is a post mill located in the Magdeburg district of Fermersleben . Only remnants have been preserved.

location

It stands at the western end of Reichweinstrasse, on the western edge of the Fermersleber locality. The SKL premises are located directly to the west of the mill .

history

Originally, the mill was located a little further northeast on the site of today's war memorial Fermersleben , north of the village. A new construction of the road from Magdeburg to Schönebeck (Elbe) at the beginning of the 19th century made it necessary to relocate the mill. During the Napoleonic occupation , the windmill was moved to its current location. The windmill was and is owned by the Böckelmann family. A feed store also belonged to the mill. In the period around 1920 the development of the Rudolf Wolf company, today's SKL site, moved closer to the mill location. The use of wind was impaired as a result. The mill operation was initially switched to steam. Later a diesel engine served as the drive. Flour was still ground until the 1950s, when production was changed. Minerals were now ground for industrial use . In particular, feldspar , mica and aluminum ash were processed.

Today (as of 2013) the mill is closed and the former windmill building is threatened with decay.
